May 30, 2015

I'm excited to announce that we have a date! May 30, 2015, a year from today, I will marry my best friend.  The wedding process so far has been a little stressful but all the while a lot of fun. For those of you reading, you may/or may not know how much of a planner I'm. I was the girl in college who would choose to stay in and write all of the semester's syllabuses in my new planner with colorful pens than go out on the town. I know this screams " Nerd Alert" and even  "Old Grandma", but something about organization and planning really gets me going. And for the record, I would eventually go out but spending time in my planner and checking off completed task was definitely a great deal of fun for me.  So needless to say this whole wedding thing is right up my alley. Plus what female doesn't like the excitement of planning a wedding?

Surprisingly, Ian has really enjoyed it so far too. Just within the two weeks we have been engaged we have had a blast planning and thinking about our future together. As a soon to be bride, its so easy to make decisions from my perspective or to let others influence your decisions. However, we decided a long time ago that together we would make decisions in regards to our wedding (And might I add thats good practice for the future with bigger life decisions than what venue and caterer you want to use). With that being said, from the moment we got engaged we decided throughout this process and soon to be marriage what our top priority would be.
TOP PRIORITY: We want to make sure that through the excitement of planning and our life together that we remember the true reason of it all- The love of our God. After all, he is the best example of love. The bible mentions a greek word called "agape", meaning "unconditional spiritual love". Its often used in regards to the self sacrifice The Lord gave to all of humanity. Agape love gives without expecting anything in return. Agape love is our God. Our prayer is that throughout this process we remember who has brought us together and the Christian meaning of unity we are about to embark on together.
Which brings me to why I have started this blog. I have always loved to blog, but I've neglected it for quite some time. Therefore, when having something like an engagement what better time to start back?

For those of you reading we ask that you pray along with us throughout the upcoming year. Since we marked our date on the calendar we have been praying over our wedding day along with the days leading up to it in "Becoming the Underwoods"! ;)
